Revolution 2.3 is out and we are ready!
The MODX Team released Revolution 2.3.0 today. Despite it "only" being a minor release, it is pretty huge - featuring a new manager design, as well as a whole slew of other improvements. Check the release post for specifics.
As we have been involved with 2.3 for a while now, we have a pretty good idea about what's new and what may break, and we have been silently working on ensuring our Premium Extras work great and look even better in 2.3. Here's the official verdict on our Extras and their compatibility with 2.3 today:
- Redactor • v1.4 works as expected in both 2.2 and 2.3. The upcoming v1.5 release will feature design improvements that better match the new manager design, but there are no functional issues with the current v1.4.
- SimpleAB • v1.1 works as expected in both 2.2 and 2.3.
- MoreGallery • v1.1 works as expected in both 2.2 and 2.3. We are super close to releasing 1.2 which, among many other things, will bring the gallery interface more inline with the new manager design in 2.3. Expect a v1.2 prerelease this week.
- ContentBlocks • v1.0, the current stable version, works as expected in both 2.2 and 2.3. v1.1 is currently available as pre-release and introduces a ton of new features and brings the interface more in line with the new manager design in 2.3.
Basically, you're good to go with both 2.2 and 2.3 with all of our premium extras. Updates should be seamless and for the time being we will continue to support both releases.
We're not aware of any issues with our free extras specifically (except this one), but we'll be further testing and improving those where needed over the next week.
Announcing 2.2 Support End of Life
One year from today, on July 16th 2015, we will cease to support Revolution 2.2. This basically means we will no longer actively test our updates in 2.2 and only make updates available for MODX sites running 2.3 or up at that date. Issues that only happen on 2.2 may remain unsolved with the solution of upgrading to 2.3. We will remind you about this about a month in advance to give you a chance to upgrade before we pull the plug on 2.2 support.
