Making 2025 the year of ContentBlocks 2
ContentBlocks has been a cornerstone of modmore since its launch in 2014. Not just our most popular extra, but a redefinition of how users approach MODX, offering fresh functionality and inspiring innovation.
However, even great tools need to evolve. Over the years, we’ve been working on a complete overhaul of ContentBlocks to bring it to the next level. The vision for ContentBlocks 2 was first unveiled at our 10-year celebration in Berlin in 2023, and in 2024, we were showcasing our progress at meetups and private workshops. 2025 is the year we want to bring it to life.
Progress and Challenges
As a small business, balancing daily client support, product updates, and consulting work with major development projects like ContentBlocks 2 is a challenge. While progress has been happening, it’s clear that we need to intensify efforts to get this project done this year.
We recently refined our roadmap for ContentBlocks 2, outlining clear steps and the precise functionality we expect to build toward the alpha, beta, and stable releases. This roadmap not only keeps us focused, but also makes it easier for us to be transparent with the community. It's been hard to be transparent about the progress while the roadmap has been fluid, so now we can community more openly!

Taking a deep dive into ContentBlocks
ContentBlocks 2 has already made significant strides. If you missed our live demo's and presentations, we talk about our vision here.
But more excitedly, we just published a 1 hour 15 minute video taking a total deep dive into all aspects of ContentBlocks 2. Talking about the current state, how things work technically, going over the roadmap, and also discussing the crowdfunding we are launching today.

How you can help
To bring ContentBlocks 2 to completion, we're looking for extra support in the form of funding.
Additional funding will allow us to dedicate more time and resources to this project. It enables us to bring in extra help, accelerate development, and reduce the need to take on external consulting projects that pay the bills--but divert our focus away from ContentBlocks.
