Reminder: SimpleCart support ends in 3 months
We want to remind you that support for SimpleCart will officially end on December 31, 2025.
We’ve already stopped selling new licenses and entered maintenance-only mode. That means right now, we only answer questions and fix critical bugs and security issues—no new features, no enhancements, and no update to MODX 3.
Why we’re ending support
SimpleCart has served many of you well for years. But maintaining two e-commerce platforms (SimpleCart and Commerce) is not sustainable, SimpleCart usage has steadily dropped, and we can't justify the work necessary to make SimpleCart work on MODX 3 or ready for the future. It would require significant refactoring, which is a level of effort we would rather focus on improving Commerce or our other products.
After December 31, 2025, standard support ends.
You can still run your shop on SimpleCart after that date (we will not invalidate licenses or block out any sites), but we will not be able to assist with issues that arise.
We strongly recommend migrating to Commerce or another e-commerce solution well before that date.
Support extension: 1 year (€199 per license)
If you have an active shop that you are unable to migrate by the end of the year, it is possible to buy a 1-year support extension for €199 per license. That gives you:
- Standard Support through 2026, for the latest version of SimpleCart on MODX 2.x.
- One hour of Premium Support to help you with migration issues or specific problems.
- A bit more breathing room to plan your move
This offer is only available until January 14th, 2026 and must be purchased for each shop you wish to cover. We will only be able to assist with the specific site(s) you purchase the extension for.

What you should do now
We recommend making this end of life a priority for any SimpleCart sites that are still actively taking payments. Clients may need time or budget to sign off on migrations, but we will not be offering another extension at the end of next year.
- Check your licenses to see what sites might still be using SimpleCart.
- Determine if any of your shops are critical and warrant the support extension if you are unable to migrate by the end of the year.
- Check which customizations, templates, or integrations your shop depends on.
- Start planning a migration path early. If you get the extension, at this point ask us to schedule a call to over roadblocks or shop-specific challenges.
- Start setting up Commerce (or another platform). See how your current features map over. Prepare an import script that maps data from the old to the new site.
Use your Premium Support hour wisely. Ask for help with tricky parts, data export/import, templates, or integrations. We don't currently have the capacity to take on full-service migrations and sadly there is no one-size-fits-all migration utility, but we are happy to help with creating an import script fitting your current and new setup.
