Need a Conference Buddy?

Are you uncomfortable attending a conference like the MODXpo alone? For all first-timers, introverts, socially awkwards, timid and shy people out there, we're adopting the Conference Buddy concept, originally by Mirjam Aulbach.

The idea of Conference Buddy is simple: it helps you meet people like yourself ahead of the conference, so you don't have to attend alone. If desirable you can cling together as if you came together, or simply find each other if you're starting to feel uncomfortable, and help each other be at ease.

To look for a buddy, post a tweet with #MODXpoBuddy and #ConfBuddy with a short introduction, or post in the #MODXpo channel in the MODX Community Slack. Be sure to search that hashtag and channel to find others, and just start by saying hi!

Just like that, you're no longer attending alone, and have a friendly face you know. Conference buddies can be people that are timid first-times just like yourself, or more outgoing people that are already well-connected in the community and can help introduce you to a larger number of people that you may meet.

At the check-in, you'll also find pins that you can put on your name tag if you'd like to be a buddy to someone. That pin lets others know that you're happy to be approached by people that you haven't met, and help them get introduced.
